Does katpak leak or break?

katpak has been designed to undergo normal litter tray usage without leakage or tearing when filled with litter. One katpak being used by a healthy cat lasts without breaking or leaking for up to one week. If the katpak is used by more than one cat or sick cats, we recommend you to change it more often.

It is also a good idea to check that your litter is absorbent, which would make your cat's life much easier. We recommend natural litters instead of clay or bentonite based litters.

Is katpak for traveling?"

katpak has been designed as an easy to use litter tray, it's so convenient that we very often get asked if it's only for traveling. You can take katpak with you if you fancy doing a spot of sightseeing with your cats as it offers a good alternative to taking the whole plastic litter tray and you can also use katpak as your main litter tray at home, it's a win-win situation :)

What if I am not sure about putting katpak directly on to the floor? is there anything I can do?

OK, so you are unsure about placing katpak directly onto the floor just in case it leaks. That is alright, we have had that question before. We recommend on those cases to put katpak inside your old empty litter tray so your cats get used to its smell. You could also try to put it on some old newspapers, that should do the trick!

My cat already uses his litter tray, does he need to be trained again to use katpak?

You shouldn't need to re-train your cat. Cats know where to go for the litter tray! So put the katpak in the same place as usual. You might even try putting katpak onto the old empty tray. If you leave the old tray lying about, they may get confused and might end up, like one of ours, sleeping in the katpak !

What type of litter is best to use with katpak?

You should use the same litter that you are using at the moment so your cat doesn't get confused. If you are thinking of changing litter, do it later once they've got used to katpak. We recommend using wood, wheat and paper based litter which are all biodegradable rather than crystals or bentonite. Let your cat do something to help the planet!

My cats like to sleep and play in the katpak but they haven't used it yet as a litter tray, what should I do?

Yes, we have seen how much cats enjoy going in and out of the katpak and using it in many different ways, there are no two cats that do exactly the same!

If you don't want your cats to use katpak like a playground or a bed, we recommend you to throw away the one that they are having fun with, open a new one and put it in the same place as where the litter tray was...even put the litter tray under the katpak... It may take them a while to get used to but you will find that persevering will pay off.

How easy is to remove waste from inside the katpak?

It is as easy as removing waste from any other non-disposable hooded litter trays, the dimensions of katpak are the same as an average hooded litter tray.

How often do I have to change the katpak?

That depends on the usage and your own preference, some people prefer changing it every two days while others may have it up for a whole week. If you have more than one cat using the katpak or your cats are poorly we recommend changing it often. If you don't want to have to remove the waste but still want to have a clean litter tray use a new katpak every two to three days.

How "green" is katpak?

katpak is made up of recycled paper and it is completely biodegradable. Compared with the average plastic tray, katpak is better for the environment as it is made of paper that will degrade, while plastic litter trays will take many many years to degrade. katpak's enclosed design also means a reduction in smells, which means that there is no need for chemically treated litters that are more harmful to the environment than natural cat litters.

Is katpak compostable?

Yes, katpak is compostable although you have to take the following precautions: if you use biodegradable litter, you only have to take out the faeces and put katpak and the litter in the compost bin. If you are using non-biodegradable litter, just empty the katpak of the litter and put the katpak in the compost bin.

What can I do if my cats keep jumping on katpak?

Wendy, one of our customers, was having this problem and she had the clever idea of cutting the top off the katpak to teach her cats that you shouldn't jump on it and sure enough, they stopped climbing on katpak and now she is using it normally.
